It’s easy to see why Venice historically has had such a problem with over tourism—there’s really isn’t another place like it anywhere on earth. Built over 118 different islands, there isn’t a car to be found in the city center. Instead, the canals operate as the roads of the city—the most famous being the large, Grand Canal, as seen on our Venezia tee.
Pro Tip: A. If you’re going to Venice… get up EARLY. The number of tourists in the city during the day are growing to nearly unbearable levels—getting an early start will make your visit much more enjoyable. B. Consider staying in nearby Treviso instead of Venice—the walled city is only a short train ride away, has the same Italian charm, is much cheaper, and full of surprises of its own.
